KVK & training alignment, Haryana

Every centre that can train you, ordered by how close it sits to Pehowa — plus what to ask on the call, because the dates are the one thing no one publishes centrally.

Start here — the Kurukshetra cluster

Three of Haryana’s four Indo-Israel Centres of Excellence sit in your own district, and your home KVK is under 30 km away. For a horticulture pivot this is an unusually good hand to be dealt — the specialist infrastructure is local, not in Hisar.

Distances are rough road approximations for planning a day’s travel, not measured. The fourth Indo-Israel centre (citrus & pomegranate, Mangiana) is commonly listed under Sirsa district — worth confirming when you call, as sources differ.

The remaining Haryana KVKs

Eighteen in total, most under CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Listed for completeness — a training worth travelling for may sit at any of them.

What the durations actually look like

KVKs run a standing four-part training mandate. The shape is consistent nationally even though each kendra sets its own calendar.

TypeWho it’s forTypical duration
On-campus farmer trainingPractising farmers1–5 days, often 2–3
Off-campus / village trainingFarmer groups at their own site1 day, occasionally 2
Vocational — rural youthSkill-building for an enterprise1 week to 1 month; some run longer
Sponsored skill coursesCertified, scheme-linked200–400 hours over several weeks
Indo-Israel CoE modulesFarmers & nursery operatorsCommonly 3 days — Ladwa runs 3-day nursery management

The honest gap

There is no single portal listing live 2026 training dates for Haryana’s KVKs. Each kendra publishes its own calendar, usually April–March, and many only circulate it locally or fill seats by phone. This is a phone-call problem, not a search problem — which is why the next section exists.

What to ask when you call

  1. The calendar itself. Ask for the current April–March training calendar as a PDF or WhatsApp image. Most will send it; almost none have it on a website.
  2. Horticulture-specific slots. Say the pivot plainly — diversified horticulture on your own land — and ask which of their trainings actually match, rather than reading the whole calendar yourself.
  3. Duration and residency. Days, daily timings, and whether boarding is available on campus. This decides whether it is a day trip from Pehowa or a stay.
  4. Fee and eligibility. Most farmer trainings are free or nominal; vocational courses often carry a fee and a minimum batch size.
  5. Batch formation. Ask the threshold — several KVKs will run a course on request if you bring a group. If you can assemble farmers locally, you can set the date instead of waiting for one.
  6. Registration lead time. How far ahead to confirm a seat, and to whom.
  7. The person, not the office. Get the name and mobile of the subject-matter specialist for horticulture. That contact outlasts every calendar.

Suggested order of calls: KVK Kurukshetra first (home kendra, will know the district calendar and can point you onward), then CoE Ladwa, then CoE Gharaunda. Three calls should establish most of the map.
